OSU is in the top 4 of a 2019 guard with family ties to Stillwater.

Four-star prospect Marcus Watson, who visited Oklahoma State on an official basis over the weekend, included OSU among his final four schools on Tuesday night.

Oregon, Texas Tech and Georgia Tech round out his newly-cut list.

Though OSU is maxed at its scholarship numbers at the moment for the 2019 recruiting class with Avery Anderson’s Tuesday commitment, Watson remains a viable option for OSU in 2019. The staff continues to recruit him with the hopes that he joins the No. 1 class in the Big 12.

Having a familial connection to him … well, that shouldn’t hurt OSU’s chances.

“Coach (Mike) Boynton, that is my cousin,” Watson told Rivals back in December. “He tells me that I don’t have to come there because we are family but he wants for me to enjoy the process but after visiting the school, it was a great visit. I loved it. The whole atmosphere, I am a big atmosphere guy, I loved it. I went to a good football game. I loved the whole coaching staff. It is going to be a really tough decision but I really like coach; he is amazing.”

Watson is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound listed shooting guard. Like Anderson, a point guard/shooting guard combo, Watson brings with him versatility. He could play small forward or shooting guard, and has a competitive streak that has earned him more 19 total offers from programs across the country.

I’d still bet Watson is favoring Georgia Tech at this point in his recruiting process over OSU and Texas Tech, but the Cowboys have certainly given him something to think about. And I’m not counting Boynton out of any recruiting arms race given his recent hot streak.
