Four-star Oklahoma Safety Kendal Daniels Cuts OSU Out of Final Four

Daniels had OSU in his final 12 before dropping them off this weekend.

Oklahoma State made four-star Beggs (Okla.) safety recruit Kendal Daniels a priority in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The staff was third to extend him a scholarship offer early last year — behind only Iowa State and Arkansas — and one of the first to land a visit from him last spring.

But even those steps weren’t enough to ultimately lure him away from college football’s bluest of bluebloods. Over the weekend Daniels trimmed his list from 12 to four and sliced the Pokes from consideration, with only Clemson, OU, LSU and Texas A&M (lol) surviving. Daniels had included OSU in his top 12 last month.

It’s a bummer for OSU to miss on the 6-foot-4, 190-pound star given it was early to identify him, always after him and did all the right things to be considered a contender. But it underscores just how hard it is to win in recruiting, particularly against some of the big dogs of the sport.

OSU is moving along nicely at the safety position in the class despite missing on the big target in Daniels, with a commitment from in-state standout Ty Williams two weeks ago helping to soften the blow. The staff is also in good shape with North Richland Hills standout CJ Baskerville and Salt Lake standout Jeffrey Bassa.
