Hoops Roundup: Five Notable OSU Offers Made During Evaluation Period

July is a tricky month for college basketball coaches. To kick off the month is the quiet period, where in-person recruiting contacts can be made only on campus. Sprinkled throughout the rest of the month is the dead period, where no contact, evaluations, or visits can be made, followed by the evaluation period, where rules are much less stringent. Then the dead period. Then the eval period. Then — you get it.

Between it all, the OSU staff managed to stay plenty busy with a number of new offers. Here’s a look at the ones of note.

1. Jordan Walsh, 2022 small forward

Who is he: Walsh is a 6-6, 175-pound small forward from Dallas. He attends Faith Family Academy. Texas Tech, OSU, Texas and Texas A&M have offered.

2. Gradey Dick, 2022

Who is he: A Wichita native, Gradey Dick is viewed as one of the best prospects from Kansas in the 2022 class. The 6-5, 170-pound small forward has already garnered offers from Kansas, Iowa State, OSU, Creighton, Nebraska and Kansas State.

3. J.T. Thor, 2021 power forward

Who is he: Thor is a ????? power forward from Huntington Prep ranked by 247Sports as the No. 13 overall player in the 2021 class. A 6-9, 185-pound prospect, he’s already received offers from OSU, DePaul, Arizona, Kansas, USC, LSU, Maryland and many others.

4. Drew Steffe, 2023 point guard

Who is he: He’s a 6-3 point guard from Texas who is seeing his star rise fast. Arizona State and Oklahoma State have offered this week after a strong Peach Jam showing with Team Griffin.

5. Jalen Bridges, 2020 small forward

Who is he: The oldest among the recent offerees, Bridges is a top-100 forward from West Virginia with 31 (!) scholarship offers. OSU is in the mix to compete with West Virginia, Ohio State, Pitt, Xavier, Marquette, Indiana .. you name it.
