The Cowboys’ strong start to the month of June on the recruiting trail continues with an addition from a national power prep school.

IMG Academy defensive lineman Alexander McPherson announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. McPherson picked the Pokes over offers from Michigan State, Pitt, Indiana and others.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, McPherson is a three-star prospect, according to Rivals. The other major services don’t yet have McPherson ranked, but it should be only a matter of time.

McPherson was one of the first players new OSU defensive line coach Paul Randolph offered after moving from Indiana to Stillwater. McPherson announced his offer Jan. 27. Randolph was announced as OSU’s D-line coach Jan. 11. McPherson then took an official visit to Stillwater in mid-April. He also took a visit to Michigan State in January.

He played his high school sophomore season at Martin County in Stuart, Florida. The Tigers went 8-3 that season, as the underclassman McPherson recorded 53 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He then transferred to national power IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his junior season.

McPherson becomes the Cowboys’ third commitment this month, joining defensive lineman Jordan Covington and tight end Isaiah Butler-Tanner. McPherson makes it a dozen commits for the Cowboys’ 2025 class. The class ranks 31st nationally and sixth in the Big 12.

He is just the third defensive prospect committed to this point, joining Covington and Wichita linebacker Kyle Keya. But OSU DC Bryan Nardo has been hard at work, sending out a trio of bat symbols the past few days. Assuming those symbols were for defensive prospects, there is still another unnamed Cowboy commit out there.
