It’s Monday, Here are 15 Thoughts on a 10-Minute Chuba Highlight Video
It’s even better than you think.
Listen, it’s Monday. It was a fun weekend. The summer looms ahead of what should be a thrilling fall, and I am high on 1995 nostalgia and Bedlam wrestling blowouts.
So yeah, I’m going 15 quick thoughts on this 10-minute Chuba highlight video from last season. Also, just because, we’re giving away three orange maple shirts today. All you have to do is comment on this thread in the Chamber to be entered. We’ll announce our winners at the end of today.
Anyway, here are 10 quick thoughts on this hilariously good Chuba video. Enjoy!
1. This is probably a bad feeling, eh?
2. Remember that Oregon State offense? RIP the Oregon State offense. We hardly knew ye. Hopefully Kasey Dunn will perform CPR and resurrect it.
3. It gets buried, but the Tulsa run at 0:45 was maybe his best of the year. Absolute filth. Should come with its own internet filter.
4. I will go to my grave saying this, but there might not be a better cut-back runner in Big 12 history. I think we sort of underrate how much patience it takes to do what he does on some of those runs, and then it’s just all explosions and TNT.
5. I underestimated how good Chuba would be on short-yardage runs between the tackles. He’s not Jerome Bettis, but he’s really good in there, which you know Gundy just absolutely craves.
6. The acceleration through the hole at 3:15 against Kansas State looks fake. Like somebody sped up the film. Maybe they did. That you can’t tell with Chuba is part of the fun.
7. Bouncing through the hole and changing hands at 3:55 against Kansas State has me wondering which seat will be mine at the AT&T Stadium press box in December. Send help. SOS. [sends flares into the air].
8. Remember when Chuba put an entire university on his back in Lubbock for the first 30 minutes? I member. Herculean. Should have gone to NYC based on the spats and towel look from this game alone.
9. At the 5:45 mark, watch him hit that hole. You can almost see him think, “There is no way I’m not getting through here,” and then he nearly runs up the back of three guys. Poor Marcus Keyes was trying to gallop with him! HAVE I MENTIONED HOW GLAD I AM THAT HE’S STAYING IN SCHOOL?!
10. He gains 30 yards from here (6:15 mark). He’s surrounded by six defenders with no blockers, and he goes 30 more yards. If I’m a Big 12 defensive coordinator, this is terrifying.
11. This visual made me LOL. Poor Iowa State.
12. The run at 7:55 is the definition of ✌️. The track star finish later in that game, when used sparingly, is elite. Chuba only used it a few times, and it looked exactly how you want it to look.
13. You could almost see him wear down as the season wore on. He went from mega-elite to elite to really good by the end of the year. Then again in the bowl game he was elite. Thinking he should maybe not touch it 930 times next year.
14. The play at 9:40 — OSU should run that five times a game. Get everybody going one way, and get Chuba out around the other side. Holy moly, I just realized what happened here. Disgusting.
15. Underrated move of the year at 10:05. I almost choked on my press box nachos at Reliant.
