Justice Hill Expected to Practice, Will Play ‘If He Feels Good’
No. 5 could be back in the saddle this weekend vs. TCU.
STILLWATER — Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys were down quite a few offensive pieces Saturday against West Virginia, and still found a way to win.
OSU was without Justice Hill, who suffered a rib injury against Oklahoma the week before, and were thinner than normal on the offensive line. Monday at his weekly news conference, Gundy said he expects Hill to practice this week, but last Monday, it sounded like Hill would be available against West Virginia.
In what came into the season as OSU’s deepest position, the Cowboys have only two healthy running backs with experience after J.D. King announced he will transfer.
“(Hill is) doing better,” Gundy said. “I would expect him to be out there and running around. He has one of those injuries, he should at this point get a lot better every day. If he feels good, we’ll roll with it. If he doesn’t feel good, we won’t put him out there.”
Gundy said he also expects center Johnny Wilson to practice. Wilson being injured was unknown heading into Saturday. Ry Schneider, a redshirt sophomore from Minco, replaced Wilson. Gundy mentioned injured tackle Arlington Hambright in the same conversation as Wilson. Hambright has dealt with an ankle sprain for a good chunk of the season.
“It’s hard to really tell until they get out there and push around,” Gundy said. “Hambright pushed around on his then never got to where we felt like he could play in a game, and if we did, he got in practice and got hurt. It’s really hard to know where you’re at with things until they get out there and go through it.”
Wilson and Hill had both started in the first 10 games of the season. Hill needs just 70 yards to become the second Poke ever to post three 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
