Gone is the Cowboys’ coach, and now gone are some of of their top pledges in the 2026 recruiting class.

Jenks running back KD Jones and Waco receiver Jabarie Thornton have decommitted from Oklahoma State following the firing of OSU coach Mike Gundy. Jones had ben committed to OSU since March while Thornton has been on board since April.

The No. 5 player in the state of Oklahoma, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking, Jones had offers to Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

OSU’s new-look coaching staff quickly turned Jones into a priority for the cycle. He released a top five back in January that didn’t feature OSU, but that late OSU push was enough to snatch him from those other programs … perhaps until now.

Out of La Vega High in Waco, Thornton had offers to Arkansas, Baylor, Oregon, Ole Miss, Nebraska and others. He’s the No. 1,256 player in the class, according to 247Sports’ Composite ranking.

Both of those guys have been off to solid starts in their senior seasons of high school ball. Jones has led Jenks to a 3-0 start with wins against Owasso and Union. MaxPreps has Thornton with 18 catches for 267 yards and four touchdowns three games into his senior year.

UPDATE

A third OSU commit turned into a decommit. In-state offensive lineman Aiden Martin is the latest. The No. 719 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking, he had offers to Texas Tech, Arkansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Kansas and others.
