Myspace launched in 2003. Facebook appeared in 2004. In 2005, Mike Gundy took the head coaching job at Oklahoma State, the same year YouTube became a thing. Two years after that he was one of the first to go viral.

On the internet, Gundy was often polarizing, but always entertaining. More recently, he drew his fair share of keyboard ire. On Tuesday, he once again went viral.

But following the news of his alma mater parting ways with the former Paul “Bear” Bryant winner and three-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, there was much more support and appreciation than admonishment.

Several former players came out to support their head coach.

There was a little fun had at Gundy’s expense as well as some consternation over the move.

But most showed appreciation for what Gundy accomplished over his career.
