Redshirt junior linebacker Patrick Macon announced Tuesday that he will graduate and transfer from Oklahoma State and play out the two remaining seasons of his college eligibility elsewhere.

“With deep thoughtful consideration, I have decided to grad transfer from Oklahoma State University and finish my last years of eligibility elsewhere,” Macon said in part. “I am very appreciative of all the love and support I’ve received from the Oklahoma State family.”

Macon joined OSU via Arizona Western College with high acclaim in 2017. In his final season at the junior college level, he was named the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year, and was honored as a First-Team All-Conference player. However at OSU, he simply couldn’t put it together; he redshirted in 2017, then sustained a season-ending injury that cut short his redshirt junior season before it began in earnest in 2018.

Macon, a 6-3, 244 pound linebacker originally from the Memphis area, was ranked as the No. 4 linebacker coming out of junior college. He was recruited by Glenn Spencer, and committed over offers from San Diego State and Utah State.
