FINAL: Oklahoma State 14, Kansas 38

The Hawks are running away with it. Another rushing touchdown, this time by Leshon Williams. Kansas has outrushed OSU 234 to 50. After the Pokes threatened to climb back in it, the Rock-Chalkers decided to pound it down their throat.

Former Cowboy Lyrik Rawls was this close to a pick-six on a pass breakup on fourth-and-6. The Cowboys turnover on downs at their own 39, down 17 with 12:35 to play. With the way Kansas has been able to rush the ball, there may not be many more opportunities to get back in this one.

The Jayhawks stole the momentum back from OSU and it started with a 56-yard kickoff return. Kansas was able to pick up the other 44 yards in just six plays. That’s two rushing scores for Daniel Hishaw Jr.

The Cowboys strike back with a 10-play, 75-yard TD drive in just under two minutes. Sam Jackson V made a couple of big plays on that drive (as a receiver) and then Flores found Gavin Freeman for a 10-yard TD and the Pokes are right back in it.

And just like that, Kansas takes advantage of the short field and scores a touchdown in just three plays. The Cowboys might come out of this kicking themselves on some of these missed opportunities.
Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 17
The Cowboys go three-and-out and punt for the first time thanks to a special teams snafu. Gavin Freeman was able to fall on his fumbled kickoff return but it gave OSU its worst starting field position of the day, starting at their own 13.
Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 17
The Jayhawks hit the ground running in the second half, taking just their third drive to the end zone. Feels like the Cowboys, two missed FGs from being down just four, need to put points on the board here.
HALFTIME: Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 10
The Cowboys made it all the way to the edge of the end zone but this time the field goal was blocked from 19 yards out. That’s six points left on the field for the Pokes.
OSU does, however, look like a functioning football team with a functioning offense.
1st Half Numbas:
Flores: 13/15 for 133 yards, 1 TD
Fields: 12 carries for 46 yards
Freeman: six catches for 68 yards
Rigby: two catches for 26 yards, 1 TD

The Jayhawks take back the lead after a 15-play, 73-yard drive that chewed up nearly seven minutes of clock.
These two teams came in ranked 14th and 15th in third-down conversion in the Big 12. OSU is 4/5 and KU is 3/5 through two drives each.
Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 3
The Cowboys’ second drive ends with a missed FG attempt from 44 yards.
On the bright side, Zane Flores is looking crisp in his return. He’s 8/9 for 83 yards and a score.
Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 3
The Jayhawks overcame third-and-long thanks to Jalon Daniels’ wheels. But the Cowboys were able to hold Kansas to 3. So this is what an OSU lead looks like.
Oklahoma State 7, Kansas 0
The Cowboys open the game with a touchdown, their third opening-drive TD this season. The Zane Flores effect shows up quick. He went 3/4 for 45 yards and that score to Shamar Rigby.

Kansas wins the toss and defers. Pokes will receive opening kick
Oklahoma State will take another crack at a Big 12 win in a place where those, historically, were all but guaranteed. But nothing is guaranteed for this team.
The Cowboys limp into Lawrence 1-7 and 0-5 in Big 12 play. It looks like they might actually get to start a rostered quarterback this week, though, as interim head coach Doug Meacham said he’s “hopeful” that Zane Flores will play.
The hosting Jayhawks will be eager to bounce back after consecutive 42-17 losses, one to a top 15 Texas Tech team on the road and the other at home against rival Kansas State. Sixth-year QB Jalon Daniels will also be eager to bounce back from what was his worst outing of the season.
