NFL Update: Chris Carson and Tre Flowers Impressing in Seattle
A peek at how several former Pokes fared on Sunday.
We’re heading into Week 4 of Sunday season so let’s recap some of the happenings of Week 3. Several former Pokes showed out this weekend
Chris Carson Goes for 100
Chris Carson drug Seattle to its first win of the year with his 103-yard, one-score performance against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Chris Carson may have been the best running back on the field today and that just hurts to say.

Despite a strange disappearance in Week 2, last year’s seventh round pick has started all three games and has more than doubled (45 to 20) first round pick Rashaad Penny in rushing attempts.
Vincent Taylor: ‘Skinny Legs Still Make Plays’
Another late-round pick continues to show out early in the season. Vincent Taylor has done nothing but impress during his time on the field for a 3-0 Miami Dolphins squad.
On Sunday, with a career-high 43 snaps on defense, Taylor turned in a career-best seven tackles and his first sack.
I’m seeing terms thrown around like “most improved” and “should be starting” about the second-year D-Tackle who has proven that he’s more than just a gimmicky kick blocker.
Dolphins second year defensive tackle Vincent Taylor (96) is the team’s most improved player. He has been a force the past two weeks. Dominant at times. He had 7 tackles and a sack against Oakland. pic.twitter.com/YBknMhymjI

And this is just amazing.
So after Sunday’s games I learned that the Dolphins defense teases Vincent Taylor because he has skinny legs. I looked at them, and they are skinny. His response was “skinny legs still make plays.” They sure do. He has been BALLING. pic.twitter.com/4jGQG4JQUh

There may be something to that skinny legs ribbing. #UpperBodyByGlass
James Washington Coming Along
After scoring his career touchdown in a losing effort to Kansas City a week ago, Washington got the start for the second week in a row. He paid it off by grabbing both of his targets for 25 yards including a 13-yard third-down conversion to save a scoring drive.
While he saw the field of 40 snaps on offense, he came in fifth in targets. But just him being on the field with the likes of Antonio Brown, JuJu Smitch-Schuster should afford him opportunities to be thrown to. Smith-Schuster had spotty production early in his rookie season last year but came on late in the year. I’d expect a similar path for Washington as he continues to acclimate himself to the NFL game.
I wouldn’t start him on your fantasy team just yet, but the opportunities should continue to increase for the rookie Biletnikoff winner.
Blake Jarwin Has Forgettable First Start
While the former Cowboy Back earned his first career start in the loss to Seattle, his weekend will be remembered for a not-so-great play.

Jarwin had a hand on the ball but the tip drill was won by Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas. The ball from Dak Prescott was thrown behind Jarwin but he probably wants that one back. It’s just another example of Dallas’ futility in the passing game.
That was Jarwin’s only target on the day and only his second on the year. His production will likely continue to suffer in a Dallas offense that is second to last in passing offense and with a QB in Prescott who is 27th out of 32 NFL starters in passer rating.
Tre Flowers Shows Out in Return from Injury
After missing the Seahawks’ Week 3 loss with injury, rookie corner Tre Flowers returned to his starting role and played in all 59 snaps on defense. He had six total tackles and stripped the ball on this crazy interception.

One-Liners
• Dan Bailey looked ready to go prior to his Minnesota debut but he never got a shot. The Vikings went for 2 (unsuccessfully) on their only touchdown of the 27-6 loss to Buffalo.

• Russell Okung went down with an injury and Philip Rivers immediately saw the effects.
#Chargers left tackle Russell Okung limped off the field. On the next snap Ndamukong Suh sacked Rivers. We head to the 4th quarter with the #Rams leading 35-20 and Rivers possibly about to get beat up a bit.

• Tyler Patmon continues to carve himself out a nice role in Jacksonville.
#Jaguars bring extra pressure here with CB Tyler Patmon and force a throw-away. Seems like they could have done that on every snap against a limited Marcus Mariota. pic.twitter.com/hCWtpAJ3LI

• It was a rough day for Lane Taylor in D.C.
Lane Taylor really tried to over compensate for Jonathan Allen's speed/punch at the line. End result was a rough day for No.65. pic.twitter.com/CNOLebX5hl

Lane Taylor having some protection issues for the second consecutive week. Allowed a hit on Rodgers after allowing a sack earlier. Holding penalty on Bulaga halts the drive. #Packers settle for a 41-yard field goal. #Washington leads, 14-3.
