Notebook: OSU-Baylor

You can read my five thoughts on the contest here. Here’s my leftover notes from the game.

  • This pre-game dunk was phenomenal.

  • When Leyton Hammonds comes to play, this OSU team has a completely different look to it. Hammonds showing aggression on both sides early, and Cowboys jumping to early lead.
  • When Mitch Solomon scores, he is good. When he doesn’t though….
  • Can we get a Rico Gathers? Side note: What would Victor Salako look like out here?
  • I think I would trust Jawun Evans to deliver my future wife’s baby one day. Dude’s hands are soft.

This.

  • “Chances look really good for Travis Ford and Co. to return back to the NCAA tournament again this year.” — Announcer. OK.
  • OSU came out COMPLETELY flat in the second half. Still up 3 with 8:00 left, somehow.
  • JK… OSU now down 51-47. 7:33 remaining.

Just flipped to twitter…this is not OSU related (sorry Kyle), but totally hilarious.

  • Why is Jeff Carroll blocking out Rico Gathers on the free throws? Why?
  • These refs have taken over the game, Joey Crawford style.
  • Jawun Evans: 2 points in the second half with 6:12 remaining. Going to probably need some more from him, but with foul trouble, he limits himself.
  • Mitch Solomon fouling out with 3:18 remaining is so…not ideal.
  • In crutch time, OSU simply doesn’t have anyone reliable to grab boards. Baylor picked up 3 offensive rebounds on one possession. Just a minute after Mitch fouled out.
  • Where is Leyton Hammonds in the second half? Doing his best Houdini act…
  • Chris Olivier and that old man game came to ball tonight. The Marshall Moses comparison is real.

Game. Set. Match. Well done, Baylor. Come from behind to overcome double digit lead on the road.

FINAL: 69-65
