Oklahoma State Guard Michael Weathers Arrested, Suspended Indefinitely

Not a great look for OSU’s transfer from Miami (Ohio).

Oklahoma State transfer guard Michael Weathers was arrested on September 9 for felony grand larceny and knowingly concealing stolen property after an incident at Murphy’s in Stillwater.

According to the police report, Weathers took a woman’s wallet while she was standing in line at Murphy’s and used her card to buy drinks inside on the night of Saturday, September 8 (or morning of September 9). He later denied knowing who she was but reportedly produced her wallet from his pocket when police questioned him. Weathers was charged with stealing a debit card, license, credit card and a variety of other cards, the value of which totaled $85.

Here is an excerpt from the police report.

She observed Weathers and his friends purchase multiple drinks with her debit card. (Redacted) said she walked over and looked at the receipt Weathers signed and observed her name printed on the receipt and the name was scribbled on it.

(Redacted) said she walked up to Weathers and asked him where he put her debit card. She stated that Weathers turned around with her Conoco card in his hand, along with his passport. (Redacted)’s OSU student ID fell out of the passport book. She asked him for the rest of her cards and he told her he did not have them.

Here is a different excerpt from a corroborated report.

Michael was intoxicated and repeatedly asked who (redacted) was. (Redacted) stated she was able to look at the receipt, and noticed that Michael had signed her name. I observed Michael remove a pink wallet from his right front pocket. (Redacted) immediately recognized the wallet as hers and took it from him. (Redacted) removed her OSU student ID card from the wallet. Officer Knox placed Michael under arrest and transported him to SPD.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton told Kyle Boone of CBS Sports (and, uh, PFB), “Michael was suspended from team activities as soon as we learned of the incident. He remains suspended indefinitely.”

Obviously, while it could have been a lot worse, this is not a good look for a program which, after getting clear of the FBI scandal around this time last year, had been gaining all the momentum in the world toward 2019 and beyond.

Weathers has yet to play in an official game for Oklahoma State, but he averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals a game in his freshman year at Miami (Ohio). He also scored in double figures twice on OSU’s recent trip to Europe.

It was presumed that he would either start or be one of the first players off the bench for the Cowboys when their season gets going on November 10 against Charlotte.
