Tepas is unranked, but Morris has said himself he doesn’t care about recruiting stars at the QB position.

Could Eric Morris found his next QB in the rough?

Luke Tepas, a 2026 quarterback from Barrington High School in Illinois announced his pledge to Oklahoma State on Tuesday night.

Tepas flies into Stillwater a bit under the radar, but that should be no shocker based on what Morris said during his introductory press conference.

Here’s what we know about Tepas. He comes in self-reported at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds. He’s got the size to see over defensive fronts. And MaxPreps lists some strong numbers for his breakout senior season, which he confirmed. He’s productive.

Last season, Tepas threw for 2,254 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 61% of his passes. He threw just six interceptions in 213 attempts and posted a passer rating of 122.9.

This comes after OSU signed 2026 passer Broderick Vehrs, who was formerly committed to Morris at UNT. It also comes the day after OSU quarterback Zane Flores reportedly entered the portal. And there’s still some things that could shake out in the transfer portal, namely the destination of Morris’ star QB at North Texas Drew Mestemaker.

If anything, Morris should have the fanbase’s confidence after the way he’s recognized and developed QB talent, and he warned Pokes fan that he might pull an unknown or two during his time. That’s worked pretty well out in the past, as has been chronicle on this site and elsewhere.

“And so if I take a three-star quarterback, nobody get mad at me,” Morris said. “Like that’s all I can say. We have a set of qualifications in a kind of a formula that we have to recruiting these guys.”

Tepas isn’t ranked by the major scouting services as of yet, but I have a feeling fans will give Morris the benefit of the doubt for now.
