Oklahoma State Makes Top 10 for Top-50 Center Adama Sanogo

OSU makes the top 10 of a big-bodied center.

About the same time Ferron Flavors Jr. committed to Oklahoma State on Monday, Adama Sanogo cut his list to 10.

Sanogo is a 6-foot-9, 250-pound center from Mali, and he is the No. 49 player in the 2021 class. That said, there is also a possibility he reclassifies into 2020, where he could pick up the last scholarship from OSU in the cycle.

Sanogo is down to Seton Hall, UConn, Maryland, Pitt, Memphis, Illinois, Nebraska, Auburn, Louisville and OSU, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Slater. Slater also mentioned that Sanogo will skype with coaches during this period (because 2020) and that he could move up a class.

Unlike the current bigs on OSU’s roster, Sanogo brings some more girth. Yor Anei is listed at 6-10, 235 pounds, Kalib Boone is 6-9, 205 pounds and Hidde Roessink is 6-10, 220 pounds, all at least 15 pounds lighter than Sanogo.

Oklahoma State has one scholarship to use in the 2020 cycle, and as of now, OSU coach Mike Boynton would likely have just two scholarships to use in all of his 2021 class. With Flavors’ addition, it would make sense that OSU would want to use its last scholarship on a big man, whether that be Sanogo or JT Thor, the No. 51 player in the 2020 class.

OSU has been recruiting Thor for what feels like forever. He took an official visit to Stillwater with OSU signees Cade Cunningham and Rondel Walker in September, but his recruiting process has been on a constant cycle of hot and cold.
