Oklahoma State Offers 2023 Prospect MJ Thomas
Thomas plays 1A basketball in Texas.
Even if you’re playing 1A basketball in Texas, Mike Boynton can find you.
MJ Thomas announced an Oklahoma State offer Wednesday evening, his first DI offer.
After a great conversation with Coach @thacoachmike Boynton, I'm extremely Blessed and thankful to receive an offer from Oklahoma State University! @OSUMBB @CalvertTrojans @PaulMDaRealTalk @Texas1AFan @TexasHoopsGASO @AndrePowe11 @PrepHoopsTX @GASObrackets @sixmania pic.twitter.com/z12E5wd0Qy

Who Is He?
Listed at 6-foot-5, Thomas plays his high school ball in Calvert, Texas, a town of about 1,000 between Waco and College Station.
Thomas’ father, Michael Thomas, is his high school coach. MJ Thomas led the Trojans to a 25-6 record in his freshman season. He averaged 16.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and three assists a game. The Trojans made it to the Texas 1A Regional Quarterfinals.
Thomas is essentially a cheat code on a 1A team. He is the tallest kid on the court but plays like a modern stretch power forward. He has the ability to knock down 3s, ball-handle, make passes and score on the drive. It’s too soon to tell how much more he will grow, but with his already impressive size and toolkit, this seems like a great find for Boynton.
Based on his offer announcement picture, Thomas has been in Stillwater in the past, posing with former OSU point guard Kendall Smith. Doing some #quickmath, when Smith was in Stillwater, Thomas was in seventh grade.
In the Rankings
ESPN is the only major outlet with 2023 rankings out, and it only has the Top 25 prospects ranked.
Thomas isn’t on ESPN’s initial 25, but getting offers this early, things are looking bright for him.
