Ollie Gordon Is ‘In the Game,’ Opts In for EA Sports College Football 25

EA Sports’ College Football is set to return this summer after more than a decade off the shelves. And when it does, Ollie Gordon should be one of its top-rated players.

Gordon posted on Instagram on Monday that he is “In the Game,” opting in to be represented in EA Sports College Gameday 25, which is set to return his July after an 11-year hiatus.

Athletes who opt in to have their name, likeness and image used will receive $600 plus a copy of the game. And those who remain in the game for multiple editions will receive subsequent payment. That likely won’t be a concern for Gordon.

Last year’s Doak Walker winner was the nation’s leading rusher. If he puts up production closer to that, he’ll likely be playing on Sunday’s before he gets a chance to repeat for College Football 26. One recent prediction posits that he could enter the relaunched franchise as its top-rated player.

NCAA 14, released in July of 2013, is the most recent edition of the game. It was shelved in part due to a lawsuit by former NCAA players who EA Sports for the use of their likeness and jersey numbers without permission or compensation. But a 2021 rule change that allows college athletes to be compensated for use of name, likeness and image opened the path for the company to not only revive the franchise but to compensate players for use of their NIL.
