OSU Gives Contract Extension to Women’s Basketball Coach Jacie Hoyt

OSU on Friday announced it has extended the contract for women’s basketball coach Jacie Hoyt on the heels of her first season leading the Cowgirls program following approval from the Board of Regents. Hoyt won 21 games in her first season at OSU and led the Cowgirls to the NCAA Tournament, matching the program record for total wins under a first-year head coach.

“When we hired Coach Hoyt, we were confident that she was the right person to return Cowgirl Basketball to being competitive in the Big 12 and nationally,” OSU Athletic Director Chad Weiberg said announcing the extension. “After one season, she is ahead of schedule and we look forward to the future under her leadership.”

Hoyt took over a Cowgirls program that in the preseason was picked to finish ninth in the Big 12 and outperformed all expectations. OSU finished fourth in the league including 10 wins in Big 12 play and a six-game winning streak, which tied for the longest in league play since 2016 for the program.

Oklahoma State hired Hoyt away from Kansas City a year ago after a successful stint leading its program where she went 81-65 in five seasons and led the Roos to a WAC regular season title in 2020. A former Wichita State player, she has now parlayed her playing days into a promising coaching career trajectory with a 102-77 career record across coaching stops at OSU, Kansas City and UMKC.
