OSU Hoops: Cowboys Hosting USF in November

The Cowboys’ nonconference schedule has yet to be released in full, but another game trickled out last week.

Oklahoma State will host USF on Nov. 19 in Gallagher-Iba Arena, according to USF.

This adds to a few of the Pokes’ noncon games that have been publicly announced or reported on. OSU is set to start a home-and-home against Texas A&M this season with the first matchup being a Nov. 9 game in Stillwater. The Cowboys will also play Grand Canyon on Dec. 6 in Phoenix and Oklahoma on Dec. 13 at the Paycom Center. Along with those games, the Cowboys will play Auburn in an exhibition on Oct. 15 in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Cowboys are 2-0 against USF all-time with the games coming in 2012 and 2013.

The 2012 meeting took place in Stillwater, where the Cowboys won 61-49 off the back of Marcus Smart tallying 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Markel Brown chipped in 13 points and eight boards.

In 2013 in Tampa, Smart and Brown each scored 25 points to lead the Pokes to a 93-67 win. Markel went 5-for-6 from 3-point range and also had eight rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and two steals.

USF went 13-19 under interim head coach Ben Fletcher last season who took over after the tragic passing of Amir Abdur-Rahim. The Bulls hired Arkansas State coach Bryan Hodgson this offseason after he went 45-28 in two seasons with the Red Wolves. Hodgson has built through the portal this offseason, including bringing in former five-star prospect Daimion Collins, who has spent two seasons each at Kentucky and LSU.

OSU went 17-18 in the first year of the Steve Lutz era. Lutz will have almost an entirely new team in Year 2, as Robert Jennings II and Andrija Vukovic join walk-on Kirk Cole as the only returners. Lutz has brought in players from the portal, from high school ranks and overseas to fill out his 2025-26 squad.
