OSU Starting Tackle Caleb Etienne Announces He is Entering Transfer Portal
Etienne was projected as a starting tackle.
Oklahoma State lost a key piece of its offensive line unit on Friday as Caleb Etienne, who started at left tackle for OSU last season, announced in a surprising turn of events that he is exploring other options and entering the transfer portal on Saturday.
“Dear Cowboy Nation, I have decided to enter my name into transfer portal tomorrow,” he said. “I want to say thank you for all of the support and love that you have shown me during my time here in Stillwater. I am excited for this next journey in my life and I hope you understand. Thank you.”
Etienne’s player profile on OSU’s online roster was removed as of Saturday morning.
Etienne started every game at tackle for OSU last season after playing sporadically in 2021 in his first season with the program. PFF data rated him as the No. 523 overall tackle in college football with a 51.0 overall grade that rated respectably in pass blocking, but his 39.0 run-blocking grade was dead last among qualifying tackles.
OSU’s offensive line still appears on paper like it could be a strength in 2023. It returns almost all its starters from last season save for Hunter Woodard and now Etienne. The projected depth chart now looks something like this, via Kyle Cox:
