OSU Wrestling: Cowboys Dominate Missouri in Columbia
Forrest dominated again and Facundo picked up a big win.
Jax Forrest provided more fireworks in his first road dual.
Oklahoma State beat Missouri 33-3 on Friday night in Columbia. Wrestling in his third event since enrolling a semester early, Forrest stormed to a 16-1 technical fall win against Gage Walker.
The bout ended just 11 seconds into the second period. A takedown quickly led into four nearfall points in the first before Forrest let Walker up and took him back down. Forrest escaped to start the second and quickly secured takedown No. 3 and two more nearfall points to close out the match.
At 133, No. 9 Jax Forrest (Oklahoma State) techs No. 27 Gage Walker (Missouri), 16–1.

Forrest moves to 6-0 after pinning Oklahoma’s Carter Schmidt in his college debut before going 4-0 at the Cyclone Open last weekend.
While Forrest will draw the most eyeballs because of his unique circumstance, the result of the night for OSU came at 174 pounds when No. 7 Alex Facundo beat No. 10 Cam Steed 2-1.
As evident by the score, it wasn’t the most exciting of bouts, but Facundo kept pushing forward in the third period and Steed gave up a stall point.
This was Facundo’s seventh match against a Top 10 opponent. He’s up to 3-4 in those bouts with back-to-back wins against Steed and OU’s Carter Schubert.
Cody Merrill also picked up a nice ranked win, beating No. 12 Evan Bates 4-0. Merrill is growing his reputation of being tough on top. After scoring an escape point to start the second, Merrill rode Bates the entire third. Bates attempted a desperation roll through and gave up nearfall points at the end.
There were evens some positives to be taken from OSU’s only loss of the night. Zack Ryder fell to No. 3 Aeoden Sinclair 4-1 after Sinclair got a third-period takedown. The takedown sequence featured counterattack after counterattack. But Ryder was right there with who some are now considering the national title favorite at the weight.
The Cowboys had three bonus-point wins with all of them coming in the first three matches.
Troy Spratley beat Mack Mauger 19-5 at 125, as Spratley was pushing for a tech fall late.
After Forrest got his tech fall, Sergio Vega pinned Easton Hilton in the first period of the 141-pound bout.

A wrestle-off rematch took place at 157 pounds when OSU transfer Teague Travis (now wrestling for Missouri) fell to Landon Robideau via a 5-0 decision.
After holding the Sooners takedown-less, the Cowboys gave up just the one takedown at 184 pounds on Friday.
OSU’s Sunday dual against Utah Valley was postponed because of the looming snowstorm. The Cowboys’ next scheduled dual is next Friday against Northern Iowa in Stillwater.
