OSU Wrestling: Fix Secures Spot on Senior National Team with Win Over DeSanto
Fix bested an old foe in New Jersey.

Daton Fix vs. Austin DeSanto always brings about a big bout feel, but the pair met this past weekend with a spot on the United States Senior National Team on the line. Like all of their college meetings, the Cowboy topped the Hawkeye.
Fix beat DeSanto 9-0 in the 61 kg true third match in New Jersey this weekend to get the final spot on the national team. It’s the first time the two met in freestyle after Fix was 3-0 against DeSanto in college wrestling.
Fix’s win secures him benefits that include access to international tours and National Team training camps as a member of the Senior National Team. Former Cowboy Alex Dieringer also won a true third bout at 79 kg to make the Senior National Team.
Fix and DeSanto were one of the featured matches in Oklahoma State’s home dual against Iowa in 2019, the dual where Nick Piccininni stole the headlines with his pin against Spencer Lee. Fix and DeSanto followed that up with a 2-0 Fix win in the Cowboys’ redshirt freshman season.
The pair met again in the semifinals 2021 national tournament, where Fix won 3-2. They met again in Bout at the Ballpark in 2022, a match Fix took 5-3.
Fix’s success adds to the Cowboys’ freestyle success this offseason that has seen signee Christian Carroll dominate his way onto the U20 World Team and Dustin Plott earn a spot on the U23 World Team.
