Final: Oklahoma State 38 | Texas 35

Cornelius ices the game with this run on third down just before the heated exchange that ended with an unsportsmanlike penalty against Tom Herman.

4Q: 1:46: Oklahoma State 38 | Texas 35

The Longhorns methodically paced down the field and did their part scoring 7 points while taking less than four minutes off of the clock. UT has all three timeouts.

4Q: 7:58: Oklahoma State 38 | Texas 28

The Cowboys get right down the short field and make it all the way to the UT 1-yard line. But a Chuba Hubbard dropped pitch ends in a loss and the Pokes are pushed back to the 10.

Enter the Corn Dog. After another review, the TD on the field stands and the Pokes are back up 10.

4Q: 7:58: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 28

With the ‘Horns pinned deep in their own end zone, the Cowboys are able to force the put. A first down was called back for a hold on the wrong lineman apparently (that should have been a safety??) but the Pokes get the ball back at the UT 35.

4Q: 9:23: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 28

A dramatic spin move by Justice Hill leaves the Cowboys shy 1 yard for the first down.

UT stands up and the Pokes get no push and are forced to punt (student section boos notwithstanding). Forward progress saves the ‘Horns the safety and the OSU defense has 98 yards to protect.

4Q: 11:47: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 28

The Longhorns get right down the field with a little assistance from an A.J. Green pass interference call. Ehlinger found his man, tight end Andrew Beck, with a tricky overhand toss in the end zone.

This would be an ideal time for OSU to score its first points of the second half.

End of 3rd Quarter: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 21

The Cowboys’ drive stalls out after a would-be third-down conversion to Dillon Stoner is called back for a chop block on Justice Hill and Deionte Noel. The Pokes can’t catch up with the chains and Sinor punts it away as the third quarter runs out.

3Q: 2:15: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 21

The Longhorns finally make the Pokes pay with a 22-yard TD connection between Sam Ehlinger and Keaontay Ingram. Pokes up just 10 and plenty of time left.

3Q: 5:07: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 14

There were plenty of fireworks on that last OSU possession, just no points. After a huge 49-yard catch by Tylan Wallace and some tough running by Justice Hill, the Pokes once again came up empty.

This play though.

3Q: 7:46: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 14

There have been much fewer fireworks so far in the second half. The Cowboys defense just forced its fourth three-and-out of the game and Cornelius, now 19-for-27 for 251 yards and three TDs (plus one on the ground) takes the field to try and extend OSU to a commanding lead.

End of Half: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 14

Jordan Brailford ends the half with a sack and the Pokes take a 17-point lead into the locker room. Barry approves.

2Q: 1:17: Oklahoma State 31 | Texas 14

And then on fourth-and-1, Mike Gundy continues his mid-season crisis and throws it deep like a man who wears a mullet with a straight face. And wouldn’t you know it, his playmakers made plays.

2Q: 1:20: Oklahoma State 24 | Texas 14

Gundy pull out a trick. After a third-down conversion by Dillon Stoner is called back short, Mike Gundy marched out his punt team to some BPS boos. But then this mostly confusing play happened.

2Q: 3:31: Oklahoma State 24 | Texas 14

Cornelius takes another bad sack which killed the Cowboys’ drive. A 50-yard punt by Zach Sinor is muffed and Amen Ogbongbemiga had a chance to recover, but the Longhorns dodged a bullet.

Fortunately, the Cowboys defense forced its third three-and-out of the game and the Cowboys got the ball back.

2Q: 8:48: Oklahoma State | Texas 14

The Longhorns answered with a TD-scoring drive fueled by passes of 34 and 37 yards and capped with a Sam Ehlinger keeper for 6. So much for the sophomore being limited by injury.

2Q: 10:15: Oklahoma State 24 | Texas 7

The Cowboys make it to the red zone for the third-straight time and finally get to pay dirt. After a Cornelius keeper was overturned, the polarizing passer went to the ground again and the second time was a charm.

2Q: 13:28: Oklahoma State 17 | Texas 7

The Cowboy defense forced another three-and-out. Let’s see if the offense can pay it off. Need to make some hay early while your defense still has fresh legs.

2Q: 14:48: Oklahoma State 17 | Texas 7

The Cowboys got down the field (once again) with relative ease, but (once again) they were stymied in the red zone. Cornelius takes a bad sack that not only prevents the TD, but gives Matt Ammendola an awkward look at a 41-yard field goal.

We’ve seen the red zone issues all season. I hope this doesn’t come back to bit them. It could be 28-7 right now.

1Q: 1:20: Oklahoma State 17 | Texas 7

The Cowboy defense force a three-and-out including this swatted pass by Cole Walterscheid.

1Q: 3:59: Oklahoma State 17 | Texas 7

The Cowboys had a chance to take a commanding 21-7 lead over the Longhorns with missed connections with Tyron Johnson and Tylan Wallace, but ultimately had to settle for a field goal.

We’re off and running with the Cowboys up 14-7 early. I’m a little late getting started. I just got back to Oklahoma City from our PFB tailgate, which was awesome! Thanks to all of you that came out and said hi.

So, what do you guys think so far? What does Cornelius need to do over the next two or three series to solidify his QB1 spot? Or what does he have had to do to lose it in your opinion? Jump in the comment section and let us know.

Those unis are ??? on TV, btw.
