PFB Predictions: Oklahoma State-Texas Tech
Oklahoma State goes to Texas Tech for its first Big 12 road game of the season. The Pokes go in as a 10.5-point favorite, but as we saw last week, that means very little. OSU has won four in a row against Tech in Lubbock and eight in a row overall. Most of our team thinks both of those streaks will continue this week.
Kyle Porter
Pick: Oklahoma State 59-38
Spread: Oklahoma State covers
Player of the Game: James Washington
The President owns Texas Tech. He has five TDs in three games and averages 148 yards a game against them. OSU will ride him in Lubbock, and the defense will be better than last week (not that it could be much worse!)
Phillip Slavin
Pick: Oklahoma State 48-42
Spread: Oklahoma State doesn’t cover
Player of the Game: James Washington
Oklahoma State is going to put up points. While Tech’s defense is improved, it’s biggest weakness is OSU’s biggest strength, the pass. Rudolph gets back on track, throwing for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns, with half of that production going to James Washington. The defense has a tough time getting to Shimonek allowing the tortilla tossers to stay in the game. However, a couple of forced turnovers by the OSU secondary help the Cowboys head into the bye week with a win.
Kyle Boone
Pick: Oklahoma State 69-14
Spread: Oklahoma State covers
Player of the Game: James Washington
Last time James Washington was in Lubbock, he torched Texas Tech’s defense to the tune of 200 yards and 2 touchdowns as the two teams combined for 123 points. I expect he will produce more of the same Saturday against Tech’s soft secondary.
Kyle Cox
Pick: Oklahoma State 56-42
Spread: Oklahoma State covers
Player of the Game: Mason Rudolph
QB1 bounces back in a big way and one-ups his tortilla-toting counterpart with 400-plus and three scores. The Cowboys win a shootout and their ninth straight against the Red Raiders.
Thomas Fleming
Pick: OSU 52-38
Spread: OSU Covers
Player of the Game: Mason Rudolph
TTU scores and keeps up with OSU but eventually they have two turnovers and Rudolph takes control in the third.
Nick Welch
Pick: Oklahoma State 37-31
Spread: Oklahoma State doesn’t cover
Player of the Game: James Washington
Check my King of Game pick for the Washington pick. Last week morphed me back into my realistic pessimist OSU fan mode. I think Tech’s defense is better, by no means great, but better than people realize. Kingsbury spent most of the off-season tinkering with defensive schemes with his coordinators. I still think OSU gets the job done. I’m looking forward to Gus Johnson going bananas as James Washington runs wild in Tortillaville.
Ryan Harris
Pick: Oklahoma State 55-42
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the game: James Washington
Oklahoma State rebounds after last weeks hiccup. #Rudolph2Washington is in full effect as usual against Tech. The Pokes will extend their win streak against the Red Raiders to 9 straight years.
Matt Harris
Pick: Oklahoma State 52-35
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the game: James Washington
The President always excels against Texas Tech, and Saturday will be no different. This team will bounce back with a fire after last weeks loss. Tech always has a prolific offense and the Pokes will struggle to slow them down but I still like Oklahoma State as big favorites. I’ll be here for all of the #Rudolph2Washington this weekend.
Justin Southwell
Pick: Oklahoma State 48-45
Spread: Oklahoma State does not cover
Player of the Game: James Washington
Tech’s defense is looking better this year, which is somewhat concerning if you consider the momentum after beating the Cougars in Houston.
This game will be a shootout, no doubt, but OSU will need to play more aggressive on the road to come out with a win. Washington should put up big numbers against Tech’s secondary. A safe bet is that this game will drive me crazy if OSU’s defense is faced with a lot of 3rd and long plays.
