Pistol Pete Had a Great Response After Being Voted Worst College Mascot
Pistol Pete fires back.
In a nationwide survey earlier this summer, OSU’s Pistol Pete was voted as the worst college mascot and one of the creepiest to boot. Now Pete is firing back.
In a video posted on social media last week, the OSU mascot could be seen taking in the news sullenly amidst empty bleachers and walking over to GIA to sweep the white maple. He’s then greeted by OSU coaches with whom he shares the news to explain his sunken head, all of course who are happy to cheer him up.
“You’re the nicest guy I ever met, man,” says Mike Boynton.
“That’s why I came back; you’re the best,” adds Robin Ventura. “Don’t worry about it.”
The video ends with him gallivanting on the back of a gator on gameday like a boss. He never talks, of course — mascots never do — but it’s a pretty great response to what is overall a pretty meaningless survey. You do you, Pete.
