Report: Chris Carson Could Return to Seahawks’ Roster

Former OSU Cowboy and NFL rookie running back Chris Carson could be returning to the field earlier than expected.

Carson, who took over the starting role for the Seahawks at the beginning of the year, was placed on the injured reserve after suffering a lower leg injury in a game against the Colts in early October that required surgery.

According to coach Pete Carroll, Carson is ahead of schedule and progressing quickly.

“Chris is coming back now, he’s looking awesome in his workouts,” said Carroll. “We’re not sure yet, but he’s coming back. He just has to show that he is back to full speed and can do it and get on the practice field and away we go.”

He wasn’t done gushing about No. 32, either.

“He’s unbelievably ahead of schedule,” Carroll continued. “I watched him run last week and he was flying. In his first real day of changing direction, when they cut him loose, you couldn’t tell he wasn’t fine.

Carson, a seventh-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, was one of the surprises of the early season. He took over a running back corps that contained Eddie Lacy, Thomas Rawls, and C.J. Prosise.

Carson’s early return would be big news for the team. Despite missing the last two-plus months, Carson still leads all Seahawks runnings backs in rushing yards at 208. He’s also caught seven passes for 59 yards.

Before being drafted, Carson spent two seasons in Stillwater where he rushed for 1,076 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The Seahawks are 8-4 and have the second best record in the NFC West, gearing up for yet another playoff run led by Russell Wilson. If Carson were to return earlier than anticipated, it would only bolster the Hawks’ chances of potentially making a run at another Super Bowl under Pete Carroll.
