PORTAL TRACKER

Well, it turns out Kobe Hylton’s college career is done after all.

According to a report from 247Sports on Wednesday, Hylton withdrew from the transfer portal, but instead of that meaning he is returning to the Cowboys, it turns out Hylton has been ruled to have exhausted his eligibility, according to the Tulsa World‘s Tyler Waldrep. It appeared as if Hylton would be a benefactor of a blanket waiver that granted former junior college players to an extra season of eligibility, but in the end, it didn’t apply to him.

In his first season at Oklahoma State, Hylton had 40 tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception and a pair of pass breakups. He played in all of the Cowboys’ games, starting the final eight.

Hylton’s college career started back in 2019 at Long Island before he moved to Oklahoma for the 2020 season to play at NEO. After one season with the Norsemen, Hylton redshirted at Louisiana in 2021 before playing two seasons at UTEP. Those two seasons with the Miners saw Hylton record 146 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and breakup seven passes.

He was able to get in the portal following the blanket waiver, reportedly picking up interest from Michigan State, UNLV, Iowa State, Wake Forest and others before withdrawing.

OSU’s defensive back room has seen a lot of turnover in the early parts of this offseason — both in the coaching staff and in the players. Whether it be from the traditional portal or the junior college ranks, OSU is set to add six defensive back transfers heading into 2025 in JK Johnson (LSU), Mordecai McDaniel (Charlotte), Jaylin Davies (UCLA), Chase Pinkston (Jones), Carrington Peirce (Chaffey) and Jeremy Cook (East Mississippi).
