Safety Trey Rucker ‘Active’ Following Alleged DUI Arrest

STILLWATER — Mike Gundy is letting the legal system go through its processes before making any decisions on Trey Rucker.

Rucker, who has started Oklahoma State’s first four games at safety, was arrested last week for an alleged DUI. Rucker had an initial court appearance on Thursday. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6. Oklahoma State will play another five games before that appearance.

Gundy met with the media Monday for the first time since Rucker’s arrest.

“You know the same thing I do,” Gundy said. “I’m gonna let the system run its course. All I know is what they’ve told me and the information that I have.

“He’s active until the system takes its place and then we can make a decision. Essentially I can’t get ahead of the process based on the type of incident that took place. I’ve got to let the system run its course and then make a decision from that point.”

Rucker has 18 tackles and a tackle for loss this season. He is OSU’s fifth-leading tackler.

OSU was without fellow starting safety Lyrik Rawls in Ames. Gundy said Monday that Rawls was “day-to-day.” Redshirt freshman Cameron Epps played in place of Rawls at Iowa State, recording 10 tackles and a pass breakup in a game the Cyclones went at Epps early and often.
