Spring Game Live Blog: Drive-by-Drive Updates from Oklahoma State’s Spring Game
Keep up to dates with the first spring game of the Morris Era.
STILLWATER — The Cowboy faithful will get their first taste of the Eric Morris Era on Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma State’s spring game.
The event will get going at 4 p.m. in Boone Pickens Stadium. With no stream or radio coverage of the game, we’ll do our best to keep you updated from here, providing updates after every series. So, keep refreshing.
If you haven’t been keeping up, it’s formatted offense vs. defense with the following scoring system:
How the Offense Scores
Touchdown = 6 points
PAT = 1 point
2-point conversion = 2 points
Field goal = 3 points
Gain of 25+ yards = 2 points
How the Defense Scores
Forced punt = 4 points
Forced missed field goal = 1 point
Three-and-out = 4 points
Takeaway = 7 points
The first team offense starts the day with a shot down field, but returner Cameron Epps picks off Drew Mestemaker’s pass, giving the defense a lead.
Score: Defense 7, Offense 0
UMass transfer Grant Jordan took the second series at quarterback. The drive ended in a 51-yard field goal attempts, which Sam Keltner missed wide left.
Ayo Adeyi ahd a gain of 25+ yards, giving the offense a pair of points. The defense gets a point for the missed field goal.
Score: Defense 8, Offense 2
Mestemaker is back in and leads the Cowboys down the field for a touchdown, completing a 26-yard pass to Illinois transfer Justin Bowick for a touchdown. The drive also featured a nice catch and run from Wake Forest transfer Chris Barnes.

Now PAT happened.
Score: Defense 8, Offense 8
Freshman Broderick Vehrs leads a drive into the defense’s territory, but the offense fails on a fourth-down conversion. Vehrs hit Israel Polk for a 30+-yard gain.
Mestemaker hits Barnes on a go route for a 97-yard touchdown on the first play of the next series, giving the offense a lead with the double dip in points.
Score: Offense 16, Defense 12
The first-string offense started the next drive in defensive territory and were able to put together a drive that ended with Caleb Hawkins hammering it into the end zone from two yards out.
Score: Offense 22, Defense 12
The second-team offense got the ball at the defense’s 25 and was unable to go anywhere. Keltner hit a 45-yard field goal.
Score: Offense 25, Defense 12
After a kickoff exhibition, the offense ran a two-minute drill that ended in a 33-yard field goal from Keltner.
The score seems meaningless at this point. They’re moving it around as they please, it seems.
Mestemaker hits Wyatt Young for a 38-yard touchdown. Young hadn’t made much of an impact on the game until that drive, when he caught a pair of passes.
Freshmen Luke Tepas and Jabarie Thornton connect for a touchdown after a long drive from the reserve offense. The drive’s biggest play was a big run from Tarleton transfer running back Tre Page.
The scrimmage ends with the offense winning 42-33. Sorry this live blog was a little all over the place, the format was a little messy. More coverage on the day to come.
