As fun as it is to pontificate about Drew Mestemaker, Caleb Hawkins and OSU’s loaded receiver room, the only way those guys will be able to flourish is if the Cowboys can handle things up front.

Oklahoma State lost its top five linemen in terms of 2025 snap count this offseason (one to graduation and the other four to the transfer portal), meaning Eric Morris and offensive line coach Cody Crill have had to do some major remodeling in the room this offseason.

Let’s preview the Cowboys offensive line ahead of spring ball.

Overview

The first four positions we previewed included a combined three returners (two receivers and a tight end), but the Cowboys actually do have some bodies coming back up front. They just don’t have a ton of experience.

The Cowboys’ offensive line transfer haul includes a strong base of North Texas additions in Braydon Nelson, Johnny Dickson III, Desmond Magiya and Tyler Mercer (who was at UNT in 2024 before transferring to Kansas).

Outside of the UNT haul, the Cowboys added All-Sun Belt Second Team selection Joseph Hanson, former Michigan State starting right tackle Ashton Lepo and former four-star in-state prospect Jacob Sexton.

Eric Morris has regularly said that he values in-game experience no matter the level. That aligns with bringing in the likes of Shaun Torgeson. Torgeson started all 12 of Portland State’s games at left tackle last season and had two starts at guard while redshirting in 2024.

Two-Deep Prediction

LT1 — Braydon Nelson
LG1 — Jacob Sexton
C1 — Tyler Mercer
RG1 — Johnny Dickson III
RT1 — Ashton Lepo

LT2 — Desmond Magiya
LG2 — Jamison Mejia
C2 — Jakobe Sanders
RG2 — Louie Canepa
RT2 — Joseph Hanson

The snap chart above helped me project this the most.

The biggest place for a position battle I see is at right tackle. I have Lepo in pole position given his experience is in the Big Ten, but Hanson and perhaps Canepa, who missed last season with injury, could push for snaps there.

I’d consider Canepa, Hanson and Jakobe Sanders as the first guess off this hypothetical bench.
