Helsley with a good piece on Fred Hoiberg – It’s kind of hard to dislike or root against a story like that…after tonight I mean.

Haisten on the contrasts between this year’s team and last year’s team – “The top two 3-point totals in OSU history came in Ford’s first two seasons. The Cowboys ranked fifth nationally in 3-pointers per game (9.3) two years ago and 17th nationally (8.3) last year. OSU ranks 303rd nationally and last in the Big 12 in 3-pointers (4.59) this season. That’s not because Ford wants to ban the bomb. He tweaked his offensive approach to fit team strengths. ‘That’s what I have always tried to do,’ he said. ‘I’m different than a lot of coaches. I will definitely change every year, depending on my personnel…. I just don’t believe it’s my way or the highway. We just try to adjust to what we have.'”

Good game preview by Cowboys Ride For Free – “To me, this is a must win game. OSU has to protect their home court against teams that are in the middle of the Big 12 pack with them. Like OSU, Iowa State is also currently 1-2 in conference play with an overall record of 14-4. They are coming off a huge win against Baylor and no doubt will be looking to use that confidence to upset OSU in GIA. In my opinion, the Pokes will be ready for this game. The loss to Colorado no doubt left a bad taste in the players’ and coaches’ mouths. If Coach Ford wants to make the NCAA tourney for the third consecutive year, he has to get his players to play complete games for the entire forty minutes–and it has to start against the Cyclones.” I’ll co-sign that.

David Ubben sums up the 2010 season nicely with his top 10 moments in the Big 12 coupled with his top 5 games of the year. Oklahoma State is on both lists multiple times.

Rush the Court on who will make the dance – “The second prediction for the final weeks is that there will be a dogfight for the final Big 12 spot in the NCAA Tournament. Colorado, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Iowa State and even Nebraska have all had their moments, but you won’t see all of these teams representing the league and so the battle resumes.”

Justin Blackmon is being investigated by the NCAA – Seriously, read it.

Andy Glockner has OSU out in his latest mock bracket – “After a second-half beatdown in College Station, the Pokes went to Boulder and got beat by surging Colorado. Now the home date with Iowa State is virtually a must-win before the schedule toughens.”

Jerry Palm has OSU as a 10-seed – And playing ‘Cuse in the second round, don’t they ruin the Big 12 season enough when ever single one of their Monday night games bleeds into the subsequent Big 12 game?

Lunardi has OSU as an 11-seed – He also has OSU as one of his last four in. The next 8 weeks are going to be a blast.

SB Nation has OSU at #8 in its power rankings – I can’t get on board with Iowa St. at #7 and Baylor at #9 but what do I know…

Rush the Court takes a tongue-in-cheek look at what would happen if basketball used the BCS
