The Morning Fade – 12.10.10

Published

Sorry for the tardiness today. I know it’s not technically the “morning” fade OR the “evening” post but since I didn’t feel like making an “afternoon” [fill in clever WR route] graphic…the morning fade it is. Enjoy. It’s full.

Tramel on Gundy going to Florida – Wait…what?! Florida?! Where do you think he ranks on Jeremy Foley’s coaches wish list? 823rd? Is he before or after Florida’s current punters coach? Now hear me out, I like Gundy, he does a good job and he’s done a GREAT job as far as Oklahoma State is concerned but Gundy is not a Florida coach. They will not approach him. He will not go there. Tramel actually wrote a solid article but it’s not something we even need to worry about.

Holgorsen (allegedly) hasn’t been contacted by Pitt – What’s up with OSU coaches and not signing contracts? Is this a Big XII thing? An Oklahoma thing? What’s the deal?

Perrish Cox arrested for sexual assault – I hate to say this but…I saw the story and I didn’t think to myself, “wow, that’s crazy, I cannot believe that happened.”

Stewart Mandel and Gene Menez are the only SI writers who vote Blackmon for H81smon – Menez: “Aside from Newton, no player fit my Heisman voting criteria (season-long excellence and performance in big games and against top competition) better than Blackmon, who was unfairly left out of the Heisman discussion this season. Not only did this freakishly athletic receiver dominate every week, he also ripped up the NFL-bound corners on his schedule (157 yards and two scores against Nebraska; 145 yards and one TD against Texas).” Mandel: “It’s a shame Blackmon hasn’t garnered more attention, because he’s had a season on par with the likes of Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Crabtree, notching an astounding 102 catches for 1,665 yards and 18 touchdowns.”

Mandel with more OSU Heisman love – Barry with the top Heisman season of the last 25 years? Might never be touched.

ESPN names its All-Big XII Freshman team – Mmmmmm Justin Gilbert and Joseph Randle. They’ll be on the same field together for 39-ish more games together. I can’t wait.

Say what you want about Lee Corso but his award show speech last night was pretty awesome. Herbie just loses it at the 12:23 mark, everybody’s crying (Herbie might STILL be crying), Tom Jackson is ducking behind the curtain so nobody will actually see him crying and there’s Chris Fowler, just holding the whole thing together.

Jason Whitlock with an interesting and controversial (imagine that…) Cam Newton story – “If you read my column in late July about Reggie Bush giving back his Heisman Trophy, you know exactly how I feel about the NCAA, the college football and basketball plantations it runs and the media slave catchers who uphold outdated, unethical NCAA rules like they’re the Ten Commandments.”

Whatifsports.com with their own college football playoff – I need to have Mrs. Pistols block this site from our computer…

Oregon has cool uniforms! – If you skipped that link…it’s probably not what you think.
