The Reload: OSU Makes Several In-State Offers During Junior Day

Oklahoma State hosted more than 65 underclassmen on campus this weekend and numerous offers and targets emerged from the weekend’s biggest junior day of the season.

Let’s recap all the new action with a rundown of new targets that have bounced onto the OSU radar.

Lufkin defensive end Javasia Brunson announced an offer this weekend during a visit for junior day. It was a strategically timed offer as his teammate, Carl Williams, was also on campus when he was offered, which could hint that the staff is pitching both for a packaged deal.

Both Lufkin standouts are now major 2019 targets for OSU. It’s the first Div. I offer for Brunson.

OSU became the second offer for Ardmore area offensive lineman Eli Russ. The in-state 2020 standout also has an offer from North Texas. He was accompanied by Ardmore teammate, 2019 offensive guard Brayden Bryant, but Russ was the only to pick up an offer.

During his visit, Russ posted a photo of him and Gundy together on Twitter and made Gundy look like Papa Elf, which was fantastic. Despite being a junior, he stands at an intimidating 6-5, 305 pounds.

After dipping into Steele High School in 2018 to nab JayVeon Cardwell, OSU is doing so again for 2020. The staff offered rising cornerback prospect Jaylon Jones, his first offer, during a visit this weekend.

Jones is 6-1, 185 pounds and the next big thing out of Cibolo where OSU has produced some stars such as Ryan Simmons and Jordan Sterns.

2019 three-star offensive lineman Stacey Wilkins also picked up an offer this weekend, and was one of the more intriguing moves by OSU. The Camden Fairview recruit stands at a towering 6-7, 280 pounds and has more than a dozen offers to date.

Wilkins has already set a commitment date for May 9, 2018, and in-state Arkansas is the heavy favorite. SMU, Oklahoma and Ole Miss are among those also contending for his services.

Oh yeah, now we’re talking my territory. The staff extended an offer to 2020 cornerback Myles Slusher of Broken Arrow on his visit to campus, becoming his third offer overall.

Slusher’s an absolute freak of an athlete and a ball hawk on defense. I’m all in on this in-state star and you might be too after catching his tape.

Another first offer for another 2019er, this one to 6-6 defensive end Z’Core Brooks out of Dallas. He’s what I would consider to be a raw prospect, but one with high upside a la Louis Brown, who committed to OSU out of high school but eventually transferred.

Brooks had 43 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last season.

Rose burst onto the scene last season en route to being named the District 9-4A-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. He’s since picked up offers from Memphis, La. Tech, Arkansas State, Tulane and others, with OSU being the latest.

Rose is a big edge rusher at 6-3, 240, and has a proven ability to play both inside and out in high school. So his versatility is a definite plus for OSU and he could eventually grow into a nose tackle at the next level.
