Let’s dive into the best comments from the last seven days. We won’t waste any time by addressing the Corndog haters first.

1. Player Reactions on the Throwback Jerseys

Aaron: The only switcharoo we better see on Saturday is the guy that Wilson snaps the ball to. (25 upvotes)

I think Kolar may have put it best!

Corndog played great against Texas. If that potential has been shown in practice since early spring, its hard to fault Gundy for the confidence he has had in QB1. Personally Aaron, I was also on the #SpencerSandersTrain, but that was simply based on Corndog’s performance before the Texas game in Big 12 play — not great! Hopefully the type of success we saw against Texas continues in Waco on Saturday.

2. 10 Best Stats from OSU v. Texas

Chris Putnam: How about 4. These seniors are 4-0 vs Texas (18 upvotes)

What is it about the ‘Horns that fires the Oklahoma State players and coaches up to play so aggressively, but that cannot be emulated in Bedlam? It has amazed me the last few years watching Texas play some of its best football against OU, OU playing its best against OSU, and the Pokes bringing their A-game against Texas, but not OU. The coaching aggression we saw Saturday should be emulated in Bedlam matchups where the Pokes are overmatched.

3. On Brandon Weeden Sporting the vintage Barry Sanders’ Jersey

Les Miles: Since he doesn’t have a game Saturday hopefully we can have him at homecoming. We can send him up to the press box to knock out MY and take control of the head set. (17 upvotes)

Hindsight bias makes this analysis unfair to you, Les. Mike Yurcich was brilliant Saturday. He sculpted the perfect game plan to utilize Corndog and Co.’s strengths throughout the evening. I especially enjoyed seeing improvement in 2 areas.

  1. Improvement in the intermediate passing game. Creating confidence in your QB early is imperative, and utilizing play action and quick routes to stimulate a rhythm proved essential Saturday.
  2. The use of jet-sweep motion in the running game. One of the O-Line’s problems this year has been getting a push. The jet-sweep gets defensive linemen and linebackers headed one direction and allows the O-Line to simply use the defenses momentum against them, rather than requiring brute force for a push.
4. On Porter’s 10 thoughts from OSU v. Texas

Nicholas D: Now that there’s nothing at stake, and we won’t be playing for the title, we’re more likely to win Bedlam. (15 upvotes)

I’m here for another upset in Norman, Nicholas. Punt it, Bob!

5. Thomas Fleming on using Spencer Sanders as a Package QB

Thomas C: How about a package where he starts and plays the whole game? (14 upvotes)

Similar to the line of reasoning in using the intermediate passing game to establish Corn’s confidence early on, I respect Gundy’s decision to wait to play Spencer Sanders until he is in a position where he believes Sanders will succeed. For every Brock Purdy at Iowa State — who plays out of their mind as a frosh — there is another Shawn Robinson at TCU. Robinson was thrown into a poor situation, lost confidence and became a turnover machine in Fort Worth before facing injury problems and being sidelined.

Sanders may be the next great QB in Stillwater, and if holding him on the sideline today gives his overall career a chance to be monumental, I’m willing to be patient.

6. On Barry Sanders Unveiling his Throwback Kicks

Chris: I bet Tech had these first. (14 upvotes)

I like it Chris. The tortilla tossers apparently believe they have quite the copyright collection as well!

ICYMI — A Texas Tech fan claimed to be the originator of throwback jerseys. Friend of the blog Adam Lunt put it quite well:

7. On Pokes’ Fans Storming the Field after Homecoming Win

Matt Belanger: Let kids enjoy things even if you have no ability to enjoy anything (13 upvotes)

Here are my storm the court/field rules:

  • If you beat Kansas in Gallagher-Iba, you must storm the court
  • If you are the higher-ranked team in a lop-sided win, you cannot storm the court/field

This doesn’t fit squarely within the rules so I agree, let the kids play. Oh, and this was really cool.

8. On Porter’s 10 Thoughts, OSU v. Texas Style

Jbob: Good article ! Thanks for all you guys do. Don’t let the guys like this ^ discourage you. If you guys weren’t doing something right he wouldn’t be on your site.

I on the other hand enjoy getting on here weekly to catch up on osu athletics. (14 upvotes)

Appreciate the kind words, Jbob! Always good to hear readers are enjoying the #content. Apparently, yesterday was a historic day of content for PFB.

9. On Durant’s Declaration that OSU is a Top-5 Place he has Played

MaximusOkState: Easily 1 of the greatest games ever played in GIA (11 upvotes)

Durant v. Mario Boggan will go down as one of the best Oklahoma State’s sports memories in my life. Don’t forget Eaton’s heave from outta bounds to save the shot clock. That was #SCTop10 for weeks.

10. OSU Prepping for Ehlinger

Brian: If they go to their third string QB we’re toast… (10 upvotes)

Things fell into place quite swimmingly on Saturday.
