Top 2027 Wrestling Prospect Melvin Miller Includes Oklahoma State in Top 6
Can David Taylor add another blue-chip recruit?
David Taylor made the cut for the top wrestler in the 2027 recruiting class.
Melvin Miller on Monday announced that he had trimmed his list of potential suitors down to six: Oklahoma State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Ohio State and Nebraska.
That’s a bit of a changeup from a previously released top eight. Virginia Tech and Ohio State are new to the list. Back in late June, Miller’s list also included Arizona State, Pitt, Missouri and NC State. The only schools that have been on both of Miller’s lists are OSU, Penn State, Nebraska and Michigan.
Miller is already a two-time Pennsylvania state champion as he heads into his junior year.
He wrestled in the U20 division of the U.S. Open in April, finishing second to PJ Duke in the 70 kg (about 154 pounds) final. Of note, Duke went on to earn the United State’s Senior World Team spot at the weight, so an 8-5 loss to him at the U.S. Open final isn’t too shabby whatsoever.
Then at the U20 World Team Trials, Miller came second to Landon Robideau in the 70 kg bracket. Robideau will be a freshman at OSU this season. In that same tournament, Miller beat Kody Routledge, another wrestler who will be at OSU this upcoming season.
Miller is also a two-time Fargo winner. In July, Miller won the 165-pound bracket, beating Sullivan Ramos via a 13-2 tech fall in the final.
Taylor went at the 2026 class as if he was Nick Saban. Taylor has f0ur of the top six wrestlers in that class committed. Adding Miller would be an outstanding start in the 2027 class, especially considering the Pokes already landed Stillwater’s Ignacio Villasenor, the No. 4 wrestler on Flo’s big board.
