Oklahoma State University Communications Director Gary Shutt almost never has to deal publicaly on the athletics side of the university, but he did emphatically Thursday.

On September 26, Lamont Evans, now-former OSU men’s basketball assistant coach, was charged in an FBI investigation into bribery and corruption in NCAA basketball. He was one of 10 men charged and eventually arrested and one of four coaches at prominent Division I universities. Since the charges were filed, neither Cowboy coach Mike Boynton nor anyone else from OSU has spoken publicly about the investigation though the university did release a statement thereafter the rollout of the FBI’s findings.

Boynton spoke Thursday with Shutt standing just behind him and about two dozen reporters around him throughout the 13-minute news conference.

There were several questions Boynton could not answer because of the ongoing nature of the investigation and internal probe Shutt said OSU has launched into the allegations. The future remains uncertain as far as what it means for the program.
