Who Are the Top Football Recruits in Oklahoma for 2020?

OSU mines and relies on the talent from Texas annually, mainly because Texas’ talent pool is 50 times bigger. But the home-grown players have become more and more valuable for OSU in recent cycles, and they have a chance to capitalize on that influx of local talent in 2019 (as they have already with Grayson Boomer and Demarco Jones) and also in 2020.

Last week I dove into the top football recruits in Oklahoma for the class of 2019, so today I’m skipping ahead a year and giving an early preview of some of the top names to know in 2020 within the state.

So here’s a big-hitter list of names to watch within the state.

Five-star offensive lineman Andrew Raym out of Broken Arrow is the big dog within the state, but he’s already committed to OU despite an OSU offer, among several others. I’d be surprised if he wavers from his Sooners commitment, barring a parting of ways or a falling out with OU’s staff. He’s OU through-and-through.

Ardmore offensive lineman Eli Russ picked up an offer from OSU during a recent junior day, and its likely his recruitment is just taking flight. Right now it’s North Texas and OSU, but with his 6-5, 305-pound frame (for a sophomore!), it’s only a matter of time before other schools take notice.

Broken Arrow defensive back Myles Slusher, like Russ, also picked up an offer during a recent junior day at Oklahoma State. Thus far Baylor, OSU, Arkansas State and Nevada have offered.

At 5-10, 170-pounds, he’s still got some growing to do. But a quick peek at his highlights is enough to tell you that the talent is undeniably there.

It’s only a matter of time before Oklahoma State hops aboard the Javian Hester train. The Booker T. Washington standout recently picked up an OU offer, and at 6-4, 165 pounds, he’s got a lot of similarities to that of OSU signee C.J. Moore.

He’s long, rangy, and might be a smidge quicker than Moore, who has a jumping edge on Hester. Big time talent who may wind up to be the best prospect in the state.
