Why RB Jordan Stevenson’s Decision Doesn’t Matter

OSU already has a stacked core at RB.

It was reported this weekend that four-star running back Jordan Stevenson, who OSU heavily pursued before National Signing Day, was denied admissions to Wisconsin. Now he has his eyes set elsewhere, and OSU fans are antsy to see what his next move will be.

“With all do respect my recruitment is official open to any Division One program for the 2015 season,” Stevenson tweeted out after finding out he will not be able to play in Madison.

Stevenson flirted with OSU just before signing day and made an official visit to Stillwater just weeks before signing day, but ultimately stuck with the Badgers. Now he is expected to make a decision on a school and enroll as early as this week.

Although Wisconsin is no longer an option, it appears OSU is already ruled out as a landing spot for the former four-star back, as Ryan Bartow reports he will be choosing between Nebraska and Alabama. This could be due to lack of trying (We signed a guy named Chris Carson) or simply due to the fact that he has more appealing options.

Although it could be seen either way, adding Stevenson to the mix would have been a luxury addition – a Christmas in July if you will. At this point, Childs and Carson and even Todd Mays appear to be destined to have the bulk of carries this season, with Jeff Carr, Raymond Taylor and Sione Palelei all figuring to see the field as well.

Adding Stevenson would have been a valuable commodity, but the top of the depth chart appears to be very solid. If the offensive line can continue their end-of-season upswing, then there should be more than enough fire power coming out of the backfield for the Pokes to compete in the Big 12 this season.
