OSU Offers Class of 2019 Point Guard Isaac McBride
By: Dustin Ragusa
Oklahoma State made an offer this week to class of 2019 point guard Isaac McBride.
This comes about a week after the Cowboys offered another 2019 point guard in Tyrell Jones.
Scholarship Offers
Coming into the Las Vegas Fab 48, which took place last week, McBride only had offers from mid-major schools. After his stellar performance in the desert, McBride picked up offers from Kansas, TCU, SMU and Oklahoma State.
With multiple 20-plus point outings, including going 5-for-7Â from beyond the arc in one contest, the 6-1 point man will probably receive a few more high-major offers soon.
Scouting
McBride currently isn’t ranked on 247Sports or Rivals.com, however, Rivals does have him listed as a three-star prospect. One of the main reasons for the lack of rankings is McBride’s little exposure in AAU until this year. He played with Team Penny in Memphis before moving to the Joe Johnson Hogs. McBride didn’t get much run with Team Penny and therefore he didn’t catch the eye of ranking’s analysts from either site.
Going forward, I could see McBride getting close to a Top 100 ranking for both 247Sports and Rivals. He’s an above average shooter who isn’t afraid to take and make the big shot. In addition, he showcased his playmaking ability and skills as a facilitator in Las Vegas. He’s a scoring point guard, but he looks to get teammates involved and doesn’t force much, always finding the right spot to attack the defense. McBride is also a very physical player and controls his body well after contact.
Kevin McPherson, of SportingLifeArkansas.com and Hogville.net, didn’t think anyone played better in Vegas than McBride. See McPherson’s tweet below with the Arkansas point guard talking about the offers he recently received.
Nobody put on a show in the desert better than 2019 CG Issac McBride @iwmcbride did it! From the short clip, McBride seems very humble and sounds really determined to keep improving his game. This determination is something you always love to hear from a high school recruit.
High School
McBride has won three 4A state titles with Baptist Prep in Little Rock and heads into his senior year ready to make it four. In addition, along with his third state title last season, the young point guard took home the 2018 Wendy’s Player of the Year award.
Video
I mentioned above that McBride takes contact well and knows how to control his body. Here’s an example of that as he finishes with the and-1 in Las Vegas.

He’s also a skilled ball handler, and dropped some absolute dimes in some of the videos I’ve watched.

As you’ll be able to tell from his highlight video below, along with his ball-handling and passing, he has an absurd shooting range.
What it Means for OSU in 2019
As Kyle Boone mentioned in his post about Tyrell Jones, Coach Boynton is looking to add a point guard/combo guard in the 2019 class to go along with the two Boone twins at forward. Especially with Michael Weathers and Isaac Likekele, as the roster currently stands, being the only two non-senior guards when the 2019 season begins. I know there are several talented guards that Oklahoma State has made offers to, but I am really excited about McBride after watching his film. The only problem is… Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks are too.
