2024 Defensive Back Willie Nelson Commits to Oklahoma State
Nelson picks OSU over offers from OU, Colorado and others.
Willie Nelson picked up an Oklahoma State offer last May, and on the road since then the Cowboys must’ve always been on his mind.
Nelson committed to Oklahoma State on Friday, becoming the third commitment in the Cowboys’ 2024 class along with running back Rodney Fields and tight end Josh Ford. Nelson is a 5-foot-9 defensive back from Longview, Texas. He chose OSU over offers from Oklahoma, Colorado, SMU and others.
As mentioned above, OSU offered Nelson in May. He went to camp in Stillwater this past summer and made it back to campus this fall for OSU’s 41-31 victory against Texas Tech.
In the past two seasons with Longview High School (in east Texas), Nelson had 156 tackles, 14 pass breakups, 13 interceptions and three pick-sixes. Longview went 14-1 in Nelson’s junior season, making it to the Texas 5A D1 semifinals before falling to eventual state champs Aledo.
Rivals and On3 each list Nelson as a three-star prospect. Rivals has him as the No. 32 cornerback in the class and the No. 48 player from the state of Texas.
