OSU hoops rocked the weekend, including a Bedlam sweep on both the men’s and women’s side. Let’s jump in.

Women’s Basketball

The 24th-ranked Cowgirls earned a Bedlam sweep with a 70-67 win over Oklahoma in Norman on Saturday. The Cowgirls previously defeated Oklahoma, 96-82, in January in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Oklahoma missed a 3-pointer with eight seconds left and got the ball back after an OSU turnover, but the Sooners turned the ball over themselves, and the Cowgirls walked away the victors.

Kaylee Jensen led all scorers and recorded her 37th career double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Braxtin Miller also scored in double figures, finishing with 13 points and knocking down two free throws with one second left to give the Cowgirls a three-point lead and win.

The Cowgirls’ next game is on Wednesday against Iowa State at 8 p.m. in Gallagher Iba Arena.

Tennis

Both tennis teams started their seasons in the Greenwood Tennis Center this past week. The Cowgirls defeated Abilene Christian in their season opener, 6-1, and Oral Roberts, 4-0, to move to 2-0. OSU dominated in singles play, claiming all but one match. Doubles was highlighted by the No. 20 tandem of Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco defeating ACU’s Sarah Adams and Whitney Williams, 6-1.

The Cowboys also had a successful week, defeating non conference foe Arkansas, 5-2, on the road on Sunday. OSU’s Brady Drahiem and Jurence Mendoza were the first doubles tandem to earn a victory, defeating the Razorbacks’ Pedro Alonso and Jose Alonso, 6-2.

Mendoza would win the Cowboys’ final point with a singles victory over Alex Reco, helping the Cowboys earn their 10th straight victory over Arkansas since 2004.
