NIT Statistical Breakdown: Florida Gulf Coast Would Have Been the Worst Big 12 Team
Statistically breaking down Region 3 of the 2018 NIT Tournament seems like a good way to spend the morning, right? Why not. Here are the KenPom offensive and defensive ratings for each team in OSU’s region.

And here’s a scatter plot of the offensive and defensive ratings for each team. You want to be at the top right of this chart.

Finally, let’s look at where each of these teams would fit in if they were in the Big 12:

Obviously the Big 12 as a league is much better than the group of teams in OSU’s NIT region. As bubble teams, OSU and USC don’t fit in very well with either group (neither does OU, for that matter).
Florida Gulf Coast would have been the worst team in the Big 12 by a pretty wide margin, so the Cowboys should coast tonight if they come in focused. KenPom has OSU winning by 11 with a 83 percent chance of a win.
