Daily Bullets (August 3) – Grading the 10th Assistant, Finding a New Left Tackle
At Second Glance
While the Greg Richmond hire over a special teams assistant or an added secondary coach seemed like a hasty decision, it’s turning out pretty well so far for the Pokes.
“Me and Greg get along well,” Clements said. “Our philosophies are the same. Our message to the players is the same, and I think I’ve benefited from it. I think our players have benefited from it.”
Those benefits have additionally come in recruiting. The Cowboys have six senior defensive linemen, leaving heavy lifting to be done at the position in OSU’s 2019 recruiting class. Clements is happy to Richmond helping.
“We’ve got a big class to sign this year, and I’ve been staring at it for the last two or three years knowing what’s going to be ahead of us, just knowing how many seniors we’re gonna have,” Clements said. “It’s been a godsend in that factor.
“To have somebody alongside you to help shoulder that burden has been amazing.” [NewsOK]
The recruiting aspect has been an obvious win and adding a younger coach with a winsome personality and compelling personal experiences on why Oklahoma State is good for a player appears to be a great fit.
Blossoming Bookend
It feels like it’s been duct tape and transfers holding the left tackle spot together since Devin Davis’ terrible injury in 2013… It’s about time the Pokes hit on a developmental prospect.
Dylan Galloway, left tackle: Galloway was the backup behind Aaron Cochran last season, but had shoulder surgery and missed the spring. Arlington Hambright, a junior, stepped to the front of the line with Galloway out.
Obviously, the Cowboys need a reliable left tackle. Hambright is coming off 15 spring practices working with the first team. Galloway was starting to impress coaches late last season before getting hurt, and needs to use August to show he hasn’t fallen off too far. [NewsOK]

Nothing scheduled between Dez and the Browns just yet.
The #Browns remain interested in Dez Bryant but no visit has been set up to this point. Still communicating. pic.twitter.com/AnZL1OMK8r

Entering year ten, this is one of the more impressive career paths a guy could take.
Chase Daniel has made $24.3 million over his career and thrown 78 passes in eight seasons. Judging solely by quality of life, this is one of the greatest NFL careers in history.

This is the kind of stuff that needs to leak out of fall camp – young safeties blooming.
One #OKState freshman I'm looking out for after talking to assistants today: Safety Jarrick Bernard. 6-2, 195 pounds, enrolled in the spring. Sounds like he could play quite a bit right away.
