Daily Bullets (Oct 31) – Saturday’s Big Swing, Baylor Punishment Decided

Big Swings

Looking back at Saturday, you could sense the game swinging on this one particular moment.

(Zach) Sinor delivered a 57-yard punt to the Longhorns’ 9-yard line. Texas’ Brandon Jones attempted to return the kick, but OSU’s punt team forced him 7 yards back and nearly into his own end zone. The Longhorns managed only 3 yards on the subsequent drive thanks to a holding call that negated a 19-yard pass but also should’ve resulted in a safety.

After a Texas punt, OSU drove downfield for what proved to be the winning score.

“We knew we had to capitalize on it,” OSU defensive end Jordan Brailford said. “It was a big momentum swing. I think that was a pivotal moment that might’ve won us the game.” [NewsOK]

On a night full of risk-taking (that often paid off), not going for it and pinning Texas deep gave the defense the confidence it needed… and an offense the field position it needed.

Bucking the Trend

One of two trends will break this weekend – OSU will win as a likely Vegas favorite or they will win in Waco.

Oklahoma State was actually favored in all 13 games last season, but the Cowboys’ success as an underdog is similar to what they accomplished in 2016.

The Cowboys were 4-2 straight up when an underdog two years ago, including wins over West Virginia, Kansas State, TCU and Colorado.

The only problem? They’re almost certainly going to be favored Saturday at Baylor. Not only is OSU 1-3 in its last four games as a favorite, but it hasn’t won in Waco, Texas, since 2009. [TulsaWorld]

Tylan – the king of contested catches.

The argument made in this piece was absurd – if they wanted to intelligently insult OSU the argument is that it’s ignorant for anybody to play in a stadium with tight sidelines regularly (not that it’s something only opponents are subjected to).

As an OSU fan, would you rather: get rid of Baker Mayfield and Lincoln Riley in 18 months or watch them resurrect Cleveland together?

Got the iron in the ground on the baseball stadium.

There’s gotta be more to the Dez story than meets the eye.
