For this Week 10 edition of our NFL Update, let’s start with a former Poke who hasn’t appeared in a game (or been on a roster) all season.

Dez to Work Out with New Orleans

The former Pro Bowl receiver will reportedly get a look by the New Orleans Saints as a possible compliment to last year’s (and soon to be this year’s) Pro Bowl wideout Michael Thomas. The Drew Brees — Thomas connection was on full display as the Saints downed the previously unbeaten LA Rams on Dez’s birthday Sunday night.

That came just a day after Bryant announced his possible impending retirement, from Madden.

That challenge resulted in former OSU commit, and Texas A&M QB Nick Starkel, responding on behalf of his teammate and roommate, Aggies linebacker Tyrel Dodson.

According to Dodson, Dez has reached out about the matchup.

Carson Exits Game with Injury

Chris Carson was “sore” after leaving the Seahawks’ loss to the Chargers with a listed hip injury. The second-year running back is listed as day-to-day. Playing just the first 10 snaps, he carried the ball eight times for 40 yards before heading to the sidelines.

Carson’s 71 yards per game this season is the highest by any Seahawk since Marshawn Lynch’s 2014 campaign. But Seattle coach Pete Carroll talked about how Carson’s value extends beyond how he fills out the stat sheet.

During postgame media availability, Carroll was asked how the offensive game plan might change if Carson isn’t ready to go.

“Some,” Carroll said. “We went with Chris and Rashaad [Penny] and we were OK; we weren’t going to change anything. But Chris has been pretty hot lately and he’s been doing a lot of really good things for us and we certainly missed him.”

Russell Wilson also talked about being without his starting backfield mate.

“Hopefully he’ll be okay, I don’t really know his full situation,” Wilson said. “Obviously, he’s one of our best players and you want him in the game. But we do have great running backs with Mike Davis and [Rashaad] Penny can step in there too.

“It was disappointing to lose him, but he gave us all that he could. That’s the physical type of players that we want, to do everything that they can to play and go as long as they can. It’s a long season and the season isn’t over.”

James Washington Back on the Field

After being listed as inactive a week ago, the Steelers rookie saw his largest share of offensive snaps to date (86.4 percent) during Pittsburgh’s 23-16 win at Baltimore. But the increased screen time didn’t exactly translate into big numbers. He caught two passes for 17 yards, but his five targets matched a season high.

It’s going to be an uphill battle for Washington to see a featured role in the Steelers’ passing game with the likes of Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and even Le’Veon Bell, if he returns next week.

The Ghost of Dan Bailey

With every missed field goal, Dan Bailey’s name haunts Cowboys twitter and its fanbase. #DanBaileyWouldveMadeIt

As for his actual team, Bailey was perfect during the Vikings 24-9 win over the Lions. He connected on a 39-yard field goal and all three of his extra-point attempts.

One-Liners

• Emmanuel Ogbah grabbed four total tackles and defended on pass during the Browns’ 37-21 loss to the Chiefs.
• Tre Flowers recorded two total tackles and one pass-defended during Seattle’s loss to LAC.
• Blake Jarwin caught both passes thrown his way for 15 yards, but was flagged for an offensive pass interference that negated an Amari Cooper first-down conversion.
• Lenzy Pipkins saw his first action as a Lion during Detroit’s 24-9 loss to Minnesota. He appeared in six snaps on special teams but did not record a stat.
• Marcell Ateman was inactive for the Raiders’ 34-3 loss to the 49ers.
• Coming off of a bye week, Tyler Patmon returned to practice after a neck injury kept him out of Week 8.
