Source: Bodie Reeder Not Offered by Oklahoma State to Join Staff
Reeder served as a Yurcich understudy for 3 seasons.
FCS offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder, who has served as the playcaller for the last two seasons at Eastern Washington, has reportedly been “offered a position at Oklahoma State and is expected to join Mike Gundy’s staff,” according to FootballScoop.com.
Reeder has been a name thrown about as a candidate to potentially replace Mike Yurcich, OSU’s offensive coordinator who left for Ohio State. He’s also been discussed as a potential quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator or maybe a co-OC, and sources last week told PFB he’d be among the candidates vetted for a position on the staff.
But one source close to the situation on Wednesday told PFB that Reeder, in fact, has not been offered a position to join Mike Gundy’s staff in Stillwater. The source pushed back on the Football Scoop report that Reeder had been offered a spot at all.
Reeder’s ties to Oklahoma State make him a sensible candidate to join OSU’s offensive staff. He served on OSU’s offensive staff as an understudy to Mike Yurcich for three seasons, and worked with Mason Rudolph as a development coach. It’s possible he does end up joining OSU’s staff at some point this offseason considering those connections and his reputation as a brilliant offensive mind. But at this point, Reeder remains with Eastern Washington and no position has been offered.
Gundy has a long list of names from which to choose from to replace Yurcich as OSU’s playcaller, and among them are appealing internal candidates like Josh Henson, the offensive line coach, as well as receivers coach, Kasey Dunn. North Texas OC Graham Harrell is also a name to monitor.
Should Reeder indeed join the staff as the FootballScoop report indicates, it increases the likelihood that Gundy turns to his internal candidates to fill Yurcich’s void as OC, either with Henson or Dunn — or both.
