UNT Star Guard Tylor Perry, C-USA Player of the Year, Considering OSU Among Transfer Spots
This would be big time for OSU.
One of the best combo guard prospects available in the open market is seriously giving the Cowboys a look. Conference USA Player of the Year Tylor Perry, a star at North Texas who ironically helped end OSU’s season in the NIT, is reportedly prioritizing OSU among eight schools along with two other Big 12 schools, an ACC school and several SEC schools.
OSU joins Baylor and Texas Tech among contenders in the Big 12, with Texas Tech seemingly in a good spot after hiring Grant McCasland this offseason to replace Mark Adams. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss and Louisville are also among those vying for his services.
Perry averaged 17.3 points and 2.1 assists per game for UNT this last season and led the Mean Green to a program-best 31 wins en route to winning the NIT this postseason. Against OSU in the NIT he scored 23 points, including what turned out to be a dagger 3-pointer in overtime and a pair of free throws that salted the game away.
“Tylor Perry played late like the Conference USA Player of the Year that he is,” said Mike Boynton after the game doling out praise to the Mean Green star. “He’s a really good player. The more range you’re able to shoot with, the more difficult it is to prepare for. He’s a heck of a player, and we have a lot of respect for him.”
