Oklahoma State Offensive Lineman Jason Brooks Jr. Announces Return for 2024

Another starting offensive lineman has announced his intentions to return to Oklahoma State in 2024.

Jason “Queso” Brooks Jr., a 6-foot-4, 298-pound guard, announced Monday via Pokes With A Purpose that he will return to Stillwater in 2024, joining Joe Michalski, Cole Birmingham, Dalton Cooper and Jake Springfield.

Brooks battled with injury this season but was a rock for the Cowboys at left guard when healthy. He played 393 snaps, according to PFF, where he allowed three sacks and 13 pressures. He started seven games for the Cowboys this season and played in another. All of his snaps, according to PFF, came at that left guard spot. His best game, according to PFF, came against Kansas where he turned in a grade of 70.7 in 77 snaps — his second-most snaps in a game this season.

In his second season in Stillwater, Brooks transferred from Vanderbilt ahead of the 2022 season. He made four starts for the Cowboys in 2022, playing in 11 games.

He chose Vanderbilt out of Dobie High School in Houston over offers from SMU, Boise State, Colorado State, Tulsa and others. He redshirted in Nashville in 2020, playing in one game. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, Brooks played in six games, making his first career start against Tennessee.
