OSU Wrestling: Two-Time NCAA Champion, Olympian Roman Bravo-Young Joining Cowboy RTC
Bravo-Young just finished competing in the Paris Olympics.
David Taylor added yet another big name to be around his new program.
Former two-time NCAA champion and Olympian Roman Bravo-Young will be joining Oklahoma State’s regional training center, Cowboy RTC, the club and Bravo-Young announced Saturday night. Fresh off his Olympic debut, Bravo-Young will train in Stillwater alongside OSU wrestlers. It’s unknown at this time if Bravo-Young will join the coaching staff.

Taylor said at his introductory news conference that he wanted to put an emphasis on the Cowboys’ RTC program, and adding a big name like Bravo-Young proves it wasn’t just talk. Daton Fix is also expected to have a role with Cowboy RTC.
“The RTC is a foundation,” Taylor said. “Our very first order of business is Daton Fix staying at the RTC. We’re excited about Daton. I’m extremely excited about helping him — our staff Jimmy [Kennedy] and Thomas [Gilman] — and his goals. We sat down and kind of talked about what does it look like for him and surrounding him with people who can help do that.
“As we continue to build out the RTC it’s gonna be selected with the right group of people. As our athletes finish, and if they have the same aspirations to be world and Olympic champions, then they’re gonna have a path and place to do that.”
Bravo-Young just competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, representing Mexico at 57 kilograms. Before his international career, Bravo-Young was a two-time NCAA champion at 133 pounds for Penn State, Taylor’s alma-mater. He actually beat Fix in the NCAA finals in 2021 and ‘22. Bravo-Young was also an NCAA runner-up in 2023, won three Big Ten titles and was a four-time All-American after finishing eighth as a freshman. He was 100-10 in his college career.
Taylor has overhauled OSU’s coaching staff since getting the head job in May to replace John Smith. Taylor added Jimmy Kennedy as associate head coach, Thomas Gilman as assistant and Bryan Pearsall as recruiting coordinator. He also retained Tyler Caldwell from the previous staff as an assistant and kept Zoheir El Ouraqe on the Cowboy RTC staff.
