LIVE BLOG: Oklahoma State Falls to Arizona State in Lopsided, Weather-Delayed Homecoming Loss
Live updates as the Cowboys host the Sun Devils.
LIVE UPDATES
FINAL: Oklahoma State 21, Arizona State 42
After a small dose of offense in the first half, the Cowboys came out of the long weather delay just to get beaten up on Homecoming. Mike Gundy made a QB change late, but it was too late to count either way. The Cowboys fall to 0-6 in Big 12 play, now having to win out just to make a bowl game.
Drive Recap: OSU 21, ASU 42
Gundy makes a change at QB, giving true frosh Maealiuaki Smith a shot. He goes 1-for-2 but does leave the buried Cowboys on their first scoring drive in about six hours. Sesi Vailahi caps with an 11-yard touchdown.
Ah ha, a new quarterback.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 42
The Sun Devils keep rolling. After a few tries knocking at the door, ASU scores on fourth-and-1 on a Kyson Brown touchdown. The rout is on.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 35
After three-straight punts, OSU goes for it on fourth-and-five. Alan Bowman tucks it and runs, nearly gets to the line to gain but is tripped up and rolls on the turf a yard shy. That pretty much sums it up. OSU down 21 with just under 13 to go.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 35
And just like that, Cam Skattebo adds a 36-yard touchdown. He’s got three scores and that’s how much the Cowboys trail by less than a minute into the fourth quarter.
END OF 3rd Quarter: Oklahoma State 14, Arizona State 28
OSU goes to the final frame having punted on all three possessions since emerging from the lightning delay. The Cowboys have been outrushed 149-39.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 28
Kyson Brown caps another scoring drive for ASU. The Pokes continued to get beaten up in the ground game.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 21
The Cowboys go three-and-out after Bowman whiffs on a would-be gimme to Ollie Gordon and then pass behind De’Zhaun Stribling is broken up.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 21
The Cowboys’ defense gets a nice stop to give its offense a chance to tie it up. Pokes take back over at their own 30.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 21
The Cowboys elect to punt on fourth-and-a-feather at the OSU 37. The dozens of fans inside BPS don’t like it, but it’s not altogether unexpected. Even if it feels like we’ve been here all day, it’s still early in the third and it’s a one-score game. Sun Devils takes over at their own 19.
Back at it.
The opening kickoff of the third quarter — after a nearly three-hour delay — was taken all the way to the end zone but was called back due to a holding call.

We have a weather delay, folks. OSU is set to get the ball back if and when the third quarter begins.
HALFTIME: Oklahoma State 14, Arizona State 21
There’s been a mix of good, bad and ugly, but on the bright side OSU gets the ball back with a chance to even things up and has actually shown the ability to do so thus far in this one.
HALF | Arizona State 21, #OKState 14
Pokes get the ball coming out of the half.
Arizona State was 6-for-10 on third down and 2-for-2 on fourth down. Overall, the D has been better than it was in Waco but that’s a major yikes.

Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 21
Cam Skattebo gets his second TD of the game, this time on the ground. He’s up to 130 all-purpose yards at the half.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 14
The Cowboys answer with a second consecutive TD drive. Gordon gets in this time.
Drive Recap: OSU 14, ASU 7
On fourth-and-1, the Sun Devils score on a 50-yard pass play to Cam Skattebo. OSU’s defense lined up like it was fourth-and-1 and the 1, not the 49.
Drive Recap: OSU 7, ASU 7
The Cowboys figure things out, even if the refs couldn’t.
Ollie Gordan capped a hard-fought drive with a hard-fought TD. Then he didn’t. Officials wiped the scoreboard because an ASU defender took a fake injury knee. Mike Gundy goes nuclear. OSU then gets four shots at the end zone but ignores Gordon in each of them. At least Bowman didn’t ignore Brennan Presley. OSU gets its first TD early in the second quarter but it feels like the Pokes have already been through overtime.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, ASU 7
OSU’s defense gets a big stop, helping stymie a big potential momentum swing. Jaleel Johnson’s sack of Sam Leavitt counts for a loss of 17 and brings up third-and-a-mile and ASU’s first three-and-out.
Alan Bowman has thrown an INT in 8 games in a row.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, ASU 7
Alan Bowman throws an INT. Arizona State defensive lineman Justin Wodtly gets ejected for “spitting on a player.” OSU fans cheered at the ruling as much as they would for an OSU touchdown.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, ASU 7
The Cowboys get a stop and then Parker Lewis misses a 47-yard field goal attempt. Kicking has been a talking point for ASU of late.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, ASU 7
The Cowboys come up empty and punt to end their first drive. After a possession each, ASU is averaging 10.7 YPC to OSU’s 0.3.
Cowboys punting on their first possession. Picked up a pair of first downs (Presley and Gordon, who would’ve thought?) but the drive stalls about midfield when Bowman throws a pass to Vailahi, who was on the ground.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, ASU 7
The Sun Devils wasted no time getting on the board.
After the Cowboys deferred, Cam Skattebo and Co. accepted the ball and said thanks. ASU capped an eight-play, 75-yard TD drive with a 22-yarder between Sam Leavitt and Jordan Tyson. Could be long day for OSU’s defense.
Injury Report: Nothing totally unexpected on Dave Hunziker’s pregame injury report. Dalton Cooper is out again, and the Pokes are still without Collin Oliver, Nick Martin and Garret Rangel, among others.
Uni Reveal: We knew what the Cowboys would be wearing ahead of time, but here’s the first look of OSU’s Homecoming throwbacks in action.

The Sun Devils will get their first look at America’s Greatest Homecoming, but the Cowboys will just be looking for their first Big 12 win.
Oklahoma State is 0-5 in conference play, and its 19-year bowl streak gets more and more endangered as the winless streak has now stretched into November. If the Cowboys can find a way to right the ship — or at least plug enough leaks — they can treat the Homecoming crowd to its first win since Sept. 7. If not, it will be another gloomy Saturday for Cowboy fans — and that’s before the weather comes in.
Either way, we’ll be here to react and comment, rain or shine. Stay here for updates.
